Nearest station is Exhibition Centre and it’s a 5-minute walk from there.
No later than 30 minutes before your start time
This will give you plenty of time to register and get ready to race!
When you arrive you will need to register and collect your shoe timing tag and number. Registration takes place inside the SSE Hydro bowl, our stewards will direct you where to go. On arrival at the SSE Hydro, please report immediately to the registration desks, which are organised alphabetically by surname.
If you are in a team, all 4 event packs will be waiting under the team captain’s surname. Whoever arrives first in your team may collect all packs.
This contains your timing chip and race number.
Your timing chip should be attached to your shoe with the cables ties provided. Attach your number on to your top (safety pins provided) and please complete all information on the reverse of your race number on arrival, including emergency contact details and any medical conditions or allergies.
Your race results will be sent to you at the end of your run.
If someone else is taking your place at the last minute, please contact us immediately by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. If you haven’t notified us before the event day, replacement runners must register at the registration point in the SSE Hydro, otherwise they will be unable to take part in the race. There will be plenty of volunteers to point them in the right direction on the day.
There will be a secure baggage area in the SSE Hydro. Please allow enough time before your wave to drop off coats, bags and personal belongings.
We would recommend you arrive ready to race in your running gear. If you do need to change, there are spacious toilets downstairs in the SSE Hydro and an area will also be screened off in the hall for female changing. Unfortunately, there are no shower facilities.
A safety briefing will be given before the start of your wave; this includes the procedure for retirement from the race. To ensure the safety of all our runners, please adhere to all instructions given by event staff and volunteer marshals. For safety reasons, you are not allowed to take water on to the stairwell. Water will be given out at the finish line, plus our stairwell marshals will have emergency water, for runners who are feeling unwell.
You are allowed to take phones with you during the race, as we would like you to be able to capture and share your moment at the top of the tower. Head cameras and Go Pros, are allowed during the race, however they must be firmly attached and must not be removed until after the race. Wearing headphones during the event is not permitted. All runners must be fully aware of their surroundings when taking part.
We will be tweeting throughout the day and we’d love you to join in and share your experience, please use #racetheroof or tag @NRS to help us whip up a Race the Roof Twitter storm!
Please remember that Race the Roof is a fundraising event for Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy in Scotland. By signing up, you have committed to raising £100 per person (or £400 for a team of four) in sponsorship for Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy in Scotland. It is crucial that everyone taking part raises the minimum sponsorship pledge so we can provide you with a high quality event, while raising money for our services, helping to improve the lives of hundreds of people with disabilities, of all ages across the country.
